These aren’t the UGGs you wore in your 20s! This season UGG has launched a small collection of men’s and women’s parkas. These coats are down-filled, waterproof and wind-resistant and come with a detachable nylon down vest. Although they feature tech details and durable construction, these parkas are stylish for streetwear as well as in the field.
The new styles from UGG this season show that the brand has gone well beyond its classic comfy boots – but don’t worry, even though their new street styled footwear options are more tailored, you can still expect the same comfort and warmth that UGG is well-known for. This is truly a more grown-up and sophisticated look for the brand.
A parka and a cozy pair of boots should be warm but stylish and comfortable, too. These are pieces you’ll not only be wearing all winter, but likely in the spring and fall transitions as well.
Women’s UGG Adirondack Parka
The UGG Adirondack Parka is quite stylish as far as parkas go. The ability to nip it in at the waist with the internal drawstring allows it to flatter on all body types. The added Adirondack-styled buttons to the front of the parka add an extra element of style while also covering the zipper for added wind resistance. This parka comes with a lightweight nylon vest that can be snapped in or out as an extra base layer.
The technical specs of this coat really matter: it’s wind resistant, waterproof and warm up to -31C so it’s perfect for a Canadian winter! Even with all this warmth, this parka remains lightweight and highly breathable.
I love the way the pockets angle for a feminine silhouette and how the fur hood trim is removable. Unfortunately the entire hood isn’t removable. This coat isn’t as long as other parkas and it does fit a touch snug in the sleeves, so be conscious of your layers.
Men’s UGG Butte Parka
The UGG Butte Parka is a classic cut men’s parka. Its design is uncomplicated and functional without lacking style. The fur trim on the hood is removable, too, so it can be kept on for extra warmth or removed for a less flashy style. This coat comes in classic neutral colours, too. This coat comes with a bonus lightweight vest that snaps in and out for extra warmth.
The fit is a little boxy but not puffy considering its full down lining. What’s nice about this parka is its highly durable construction – the zipper is reinforced and waterproof and all of the snaps are really strong. A parka like this will perform well in the field while also being stylish enough to wear in the city. The versatility of this coat is great. It’s both wind resistant and waterproof and warm up to -31C.
This parka is really warm but also breathes really nicely, keeping you at the right temperature. It’s also quite lightweight for a full down jacket. The elastic cuffs, soft lined collar and overall durability make this a great parka! The only downsides are that the pockets snap, rather than zip, shut and the hood is not fully removable.
Women’s UGG Aika Boots
The UGG Aika Boots are a grown-up and more tailored version of the UGG Classic Mini Boot. The side buckles add extra style and sophistication to this sneaker silhouette. These boots are the perfect boot for pairing with leggings or skinny jeans in the fall or winter. The ‘bootie’ style of the Aika provide a flattering over-the-ankle height that allows for off-duty styling with wool socks or other layers.
The soft sueded exterior of these boots look and wear well. Available in both black and chestnut, the details are more pronounced and elegant in the contrast of the white lining and brown suede option than with the black (which has black lining). I love the high grip rubber soles and cozy soft lining.
The buckles on the sides are adjustable and have some elastic stretch so these boots are easy to slip on and off. Their low profile doesn’t make them ideal for deep snow or walking too far as there isn’t a ton of arch support. They’re a little heavier than a traditional UGG boots because of the thicker rubber sole, but it also makes them a lot more durable and water proof. Once you wear them a few times, they’ll be properly broken in and the comfiest boots in your closet!
Men’s UGG Biltmore Workboot
The UGG Biltmore Workboots are a lace-up version of the UGG Biltmore Chelsea Boot. They bring all the warmth and comfort you want from UGG but with a more tailored fit and great street style. These boots perform well in the city and the field and are perfect with jeans or a tailored cotton pant.
The UGG Biltmore suits the every day man, the trendy man, the outdoorsman and more. The breathability of these boots makes them a great three-season choice as they’re warm when you need them to be, but cool and temperate, too. For a more tactical look and feel, opt for this pair in black instead of brown (shown: military sand).
I love how these boots are waterproof and feature sealed seams. They’re stylish and wear really well with a comfortable padded collar and breathable textile lining. These boots are even comfortable for wider feet. What’s surprising is how lightweight they are for this style of boot. The only real down side is they might be a little more expensive than other pairs.
