It’s no secret that since I got my new front door this year that I have been obsessed with modern front doors and how to decorate them! This is my first holiday season with my new front door and before I share my own design with you, I want to show you five of the designs that I’ve spied that have inspired my own decor! Modern Holiday Front Door #1
This modern black and glass panel front door contrasts so beautifully against the white oak facade – I am in love! This porch doesn’t need much to make it merry, but I love what they did here. Every sharp angle is softened by something. The garland softens the black steel post and I love how addition of the sparse LED hemlock trees are balanced by the clean modern planters. Even the rounded edges of the black wire lanterns are perfect against the other dark lines. There isn’t an overuse of colour here either – just this fun berry wreath and classic but playful door mat.

Modern Holiday Front Door #2
I love when a door is off-centre that you can create a gorgeous display to one side of it. The door itself here is relatively unfussy so having a large cypress wreath like this one hung from a wide red ribbon is all the colour and detail that it needs. I love how these LED birch trees add a pop of white against the dark facade while complementing the door’s tone as well. A pre-lit green tree in a modern planter and black metal lanterns make the space feel warm and festive.

Modern Holiday Front Door #3
This white brick and blue door have me dreaming of a holiday in the French or English countryside with chestnuts being roasted in the oven and mulled wine on the stove! I think other than the blue door (which you know is an obsession of mine!) my favourite thing about this scene is all of the natural elements that were used. Green garlands and a wreath on a ribbon, wooden lanterns and potted hemlock trees in modern planters that I know would be gorgeous year round!

Modern Holiday Front Door #4
I can’t decide if this front porch feels like “modern lodge” or “modern farmhouse” but either way, I’m in love. This stunning photo is a part of the Crate & Barrel Holiday Lookbook this year and it’s not hard to see why! From the whimsical rug to the gorgeous lanterns and greenery, this is a stunning sight! There are even jingle bells on the door handle!

Modern Holiday Front Door #5
This front porch speaks “classic” to me. There’s something about the brick walkway, white painted windows and bold black door that never goes out of style. I love how the arched windows are accentuated with the garlands and the door is framed and balanced with red planters and lanterns on either side. Topped with a classic wreath and red holiday ribbon, this is a home to love!
