One of the types of events that I have missed since the pandemic started is wine tastings! I love learning about new pairings that I didn’t consider and trying new wines with them, getting to know wine makers and wine shop owners. Thankfully my friends over at Hello Someday wines have shared a list of super fun, simple, and unexpected pairings that you can pick up at your local grocery store for a fun night in!
Invite over a close circle of pals or send this post to your social group for an evening in of online meet-up fun! I’ve included a simple shopping list below so that anyone can pick up these ingredients to pair with these two lovely bottles of wine – one red and one white.
Hello Someday Riesling
I prefer an off-dry Riesling and that’s exactly what this beautiful white wine from Hello Someday is! You’ll find it to be refreshing and aromatic with flavors of lemon zest and crisp green apple. It has been cool-fermented to preserve the flavour and aroma of this varietal. You’ll find that this wine pairs beautifully with spicy food or can be enjoyed by itself on a sunny patio (or even fireside après ski!).
Here are 3 fun pairings for the Hello Someday Riesling:
- Chèvre-Goat Gouda Cheese
- Old Dutch Ketchup Chips
- Sour Patch Kids

Hello Someday Crossroads Red
Hello Someday’s red wine is called “Crossroads“, a lush blend of Cabernet Franc (36%), Malbec (35%) and Merlot (29%). You’ll notice features of black cherry and cocoa flavor notes with a spicy, peppery finish. This wine is aged in French oak and pairs nicely with strong firm cheese or a mouth-watering steak. My recommendation is to let it breathe for a few minutes before pouring. Full technical details available here.
Here are 3 fun pairings for the Hello Someday Crossroads Red Wine:

A Little About Hello Someday Wine
When you raise a glass of Hello Someday – celebrating with loved ones or enjoying some quiet time just for you – know that we’re toasting with you to your someday moments!
I immediately fell in love with Hello Someday wines, not just because of their quality and flavour but because their owners are also Calgary-dwellers, like myself. Jim and Jaime Love are an incredible couple, with an amazing story of how they turned their dream into reality. I love that they made their someday a reality and you’ll be sure to see their wines featured here over and over.
