There has been so much about color correction in beauty news right now, but what is it and what does it really do for us? Basically, everyone has different concerns with their skin and there are now products that are easier to use and more readily available to help us look our best and combat these concerns. We’ve come a loooong way from those liquid base controllers of the 90s!
We’ve rounded up our favorite products for combatting your specific concerns right here. To make things easier, we’ve broken it down by color and concern. We’ve also included a few palette options, blending brushes and more!
If you’re looking for color correction products for a specific concern, we’ve broken it down into three categories for you: click each for more details or scroll through the gallery below!
- Redness – Solutions: Green & Yellow
- Dullness – Solutions: Purple & Pink
- Dark Spots & Circles – Solutions: Peach, Orange & Red
Sometimes we don’t know what our color concerns are going to be, so a palette might be the right way to go. Here are a few that we really like:
- Make Up For Ever ‘5 Camouflage’ Cream Palette Color Correct & Concealer($48, Sephora Exclusive).
- Stila ‘Correct & Perfect’ All-In-One Color Correcting Palette ($59, Sephora).
- Benefit Cosmetics ‘Life’s Little Correctors’ Color Correcting Kit ($26, Sephora Exclusive).
Blending: Rather than using finger tips or a sponge, I like to use brushes to blend products. I find I use less product and get more even coverage. Blending with color correction is key as many of the colors are used to offset problem areas (i.e. you want to make sure your green corrector is blended so you don’t look like Shrek!).
I like a smaller brush (#1 above) for blending in the corners of my eyes and a larger foundation brush (#2 above) for blending all of my color correction concealers. A smaller powder brush is nice for color correcting powders (#3 above) and I like to use a large brush (#4 above) to finish everything off with a dusting of powder foundation.
Shop These Brushes: 1. Sephora Collection: Pro Airbrush Crease #31 ($22, Sephora), 2. Sephora Collection: Pro Flawless Airbrush #56 ($32, Sephora), 3. Sephora Collection: Classic Multitasker Brush #45 ($24, Sephora), 4. bareMinerals: Full Flawless Face Brush ($28, Nordstrom).
