Books make great gifts which is why I post a variety of guides that feature them each year. Sometimes there are just a mix of titles that don’t fit into the same category but are worth mentioning as gift ideas. Each of these titles is Prime Eligible (music to every last minute shopper’s ears!) and can be shopped by clicking their titles below!
Here are some of my favorite books of 2017!
#1: What Happened – Hillary Rodham Clinton ($30, Amazon). If you’re a fan of HRC or not, this book is worth a read. It’s not the cathartic journal entry that the media has played it to be – it is a clear examination of the 2016 election and the current state of America and the Democratic Party. Other titles include: Hard Choices and It Takes a Village.
#2: Option B – Sheryl Sandberg & Adam Grant ($16.50, Amazon). This is an inspiring read about facing adversity and finding joy. Sandberg, author of ‘Lean In’, is open and honest about dealing with grief and how to carry on.
#3: Capital Gaines: Smart Things I Learned Doing Stupid Stuff – Chip Gaines ($24.99, Amazon). Fixer Upper is one of my favorite shows on HGTV, and I’ve even mentioned that Joanna Gaines is my style icon. This book, penned by her hilarious husband Chip, is full of great stories and life lessons. It’s the perfect gift for the small business owner on your list! You can also pick up The Magnolia Story that they wrote together.
#4: Promise Me, Dad – Joe Biden ($15.50, Amazon). America’s Uncle-In-Chief opens up about the loss of his son in this is a deeply moving memoir about the year that would forever change the Biden family. His first book Promises to Keep: On Life and Politics is certainly worth a read as well.
#5: We’re Going to Need More Wine – Gabrielle Union ($26, Amazon). I don’t know how to describe this book in a way that would do it justice, so I’ve copied a few quotes in here for you: “In the spirit of Amy Poehler’s Yes Please, a powerful collection of essays about gender, sexuality, race, beauty, Hollywood, and what it means to be a modern woman. In this moving collection of thought provoking essays infused with her unique wisdom and deep humor, Union uses that same fearlessness to tell astonishingly personal and true stories about power, color, gender, feminism, and fame.”
#6: A Simplified Life: Tactical Tools For Intentional Living – Emily Ley ($19.99, Amazon). You knew this book was going to be on this list, didn’t you?! After I gushed nonstop about Ley’s first book, Grace, Not Perfection, you knew I’d be anticipating the release of her second book – and here it is! (full review coming in January!) This book is the perfect gift for the busy person on your list.
#7: It Takes Two: Our Story – Jonathan & Drew Scott ($00, Amazon). Another HGTV favorite of mine are The Property Brothers. This memoir is a follow up to their first book: Dream Home: The Property Brothers’ Ultimate Guide to Finding and Fixing Your Perfect House.
