As this home is so large and features so many things that I couldn’t bear leaving out, I’ve split this into a three-post series!

Open Concept Living Space
Normally I’d always start with the kitchen and work my way out, but in this case, I feel like it’s better to go from the living room into this space to get the full flow of the home!
A Modern-Cozy Living Room
Open For Entertaining
Must-haves in a living room for me always include a fireplace and ample space for seating! This living room has both!
I love the warmth of the firewood against the concrete tile fireplace – the juxtaposition is fantastic. I also love how the room has as many windows as possible to let in as much natural light as it can!
The space offers more than enough seating for guests and family and having a wood burning fireplace in this area of the home is really something special.
The living room is open to the adjacent dining room and is accessed from a hallway (with stunning ceiling detail as you can see!) from the foyer. It also has views of the cozy outdoor living room! (ICYMI: I featured this space in another post which you can read here)
Some of the best is yet to come as we move from this living room into the dining room!
The Open Dining Area
With Built-In Wine Cellar
This dining room is spectacular! It’s not like other open-concept dining spaces that fit between a kitchen and a living room – it’s so.much.more. This space really feels like the centre of the home where you can take it all in from every angle. The incredibly high ceilings (this room is visible from the upstairs hallway) and large windows fill this space with light.
Finished with an airy statement chandelier, this space feels like it connects the entire back side of the home. The grand doors not only allow additional light to pass through, but they open up to the spacious back deck and quiet backyard.
This right here might be why I love this space so much! A built-in wine cellar not only acts as the perfect storage for your bottles, it adds an incredible architectural feature to the space. Could you imagine this as plain drywall with some artwork? I didn’t think so!

I love how these glass doors help to keep bottles at a better temperature and keep additional dust at bay!
Now that you’ve seen the dining room from all angles, let’s make our way into the kitchen!
Open Concept Living:
The Kitchen In All Its Glory
The kitchen continues the open concept feel of the main floor as you can see the dining and living rooms from this space.
I love a modern farmhouse kitchen, don’t you? This kitchen has so many great farmhouse elements without feeling too country.
The apron sink is beneath a large window that looks into the backyard and is complemented by marble countertops!
I love how the white cabinetry and backsplash offer the perfect backdrop for the copper and rose gold elements in this space.
From the trim on the vent hood to the collection of pendant lights above the island, this offers the perfect accent to this space!
How stunning are these walnut butcher block countertops? I love the warmth that they add to the space and are a nice contrast to the surrounding marble. Also, do you notice the beverage centre and extra wine storage here, too?! It’s perfect!
This is the perfect spot to flip through a magazine or do your homework!
Another great spot in this kitchen is the reading nook surrounded by shelves to store and display an ample collection!

These extra features really make this home unique. All I’m missing here is a cup of tea!!
Storage is always my main concern when designing a kitchen and I’m not always a fan of open shelving in lieu of cabinetry, but the way this space was designed, I think it fits perfectly.

This is where I’d display my favorite hardcover cookbooks and my colourful Le Creuset Cookware collection! Storage can be both stylish and functional.
A Walk-Through Pantry
Worth Keeping In Open View
Pantry love affairs. They’re real things! Storage matters and so does having a space to keep things on a counter, but not on your main counter, you know?!

Having a coffee station and shelves to display a mug collection or simply store beautiful jars of dry goods makes a space covet-worthy!
This space not only continues the gorgeous aesthetic from the kitchen, it features an under-counter microwave and extra refrigeration storage!
A Playful Mudroom
With Colorful (+Ample) Storage
If you haven’t figured it out by now from my blog or my Pinterest account, let me be very clear. I think I have a slight obsession with mud rooms. I love storage for boots and coats and mitts and toques and all of those things but I also love a space where I can sit to out on my shoes!
This mud room offers seating, storage and style – my three favorite elements in a space like this!
This particular mud room is accessible from 3 different points! You can access it from the kitchen via the walk-through pantry (above), from a hidden door off the foyer (not shown here but shown further below) or via the exterior side door (below).
Its proximity to the kitchen and pantry make it an ideal entry point for kids coming home from school (think: unloading lunch boxes!) as well as for bringing in groceries!
See: The foyer access door is visible in the photo below. From the foyer it appears as an architectural feature wall, on the mud room side it features a chalk board!
Hooks, shelving, cabinets and even a counter top. The mud room is often the most commonly used entry point in your home, so having a space to sort through mail, hang keys and keep little knick-knacks tidied away (and off the kitchen counter!) is ideal.
You might be looking at these mud room photos and thinking “this space sure looks stylish but I need more space to stash all of my stuff”...well, take a look into the right corner of the photo above and you’ll see a closet door. This isn’t just a standard sized closet! Nope! It’s super deep and can fit a TON of stuff.
P.S. There’s a closet in the front hallway for guest coats and any extras you may have, too, so don’t fret about storage!
Also, can we talk about this paint colour for a second?! I never thought I would love such a bold choice, but I truly do!

Somehow this bold colour choice for the mud room cabinetry and “stalls” just works so well. It’s the perfect place in the home to add a pop of fun colour without it being too much.
A Dramatic Powder Room
I love, love, love this powder room. I don’t know if it’s that it makes a dramatic statement all on its own from the rest of the home or that it finally convinced my husband that I could paint our own powder room a similar dramatic shade!
Don’t be fooled by the dark walls – the slight gloss and ample lighting still make it bright and inviting. The vertical shiplap wall and solid wood vanity continue the home’s farmhouse charm while the vintage-style mirror adds a touch of elegance.
A Moody Office
A home office is a must-have for me in any home, especially since I work from home myself. I’m not often one to paint a room a dark colour, but in this space it really works.
There’s so much to write home about in this office. First of all, I love that it’s on the main floor, but still tucked away so it isn’t on display to guests. Second, the large windows that overlook the front patio area allow natural light to fill the space. And third, the moody paint colour feels just the right level of masculine to make me want to keep a decanter of bourbon on the desk! (seriously, I feel like my own office at home is a touch too girly for that…sigh).
