I like things clean. I’m not Monica Geller fanatical about it, but with a little one at home (born during flu season) I like to make sure things are sanitized. Baby’s are also a little bit gross sometimes. Our little one spit up a fair bit and then was super drooly during teething. Once a baby starts on solids, you can expect a mess in, on and around the high chair, too!
I know I just explained something that could overwhelm some, but I’ve honestly got it down to such a science that I had to share it with you. I’ve written this post in partnership with Bed, Bath & Beyond and buybuy BABY, and the items that I’m sharing are things that I use every day that simplify my life and keep my house clean!
Gentle Cleaning Products
What I often find really difficult is finding cleaning products that are effective but also non-toxic. I know that killing germs and bad bacteria is important, but I also don’t want to poison my family in the process. I enlisted the help of my pals at buybuy BABY here. The store sells quite a few cleaning products that are safe around the kiddos, so I asked for an honest assessment of what works well and what are must-buys. I tried them all and these are my daily faves:
Dapple Bottle & Dish Soap
Dapple Bottle & Dish Soap was recommended to me for cleaning breast pump parts and any bottles that were used with breast milk. I don’t know why/how, but breastmilk creates a really weird oily film and this dish soap is the only thing that cleans it! This is the dish soap that I use for all of baby’s bottles and cups and now, all of my dishes!
My husband loves this dish soap when cooking – it takes care of any oil on his hands from barbecuing, cooking oils, etc. I love that it also comes in travel size (perfect for travel with baby!), an unscented version and a few different scents (if that’s your thing). It’s plant-based, residue free and safe for everyone!
Dapple All Purpose Cleaning Spray
I love a spray that I can use on anything to quickly spray, wipe and done! I love love love the Dapple All Purpose Cleaning Spray because just like the dish soap it’s plant-based, residue free and super safe.
I use this to clean baby’s high chair, spray and wipe play mats and to disinfect counters when needed. I never have to worry about it leaving anything behind – it’s free of all the big bad stuff!
Babyganics All-Purpose Wipes
Sometimes a quick wipe is all you need to disinfect surfaces! I am a huge fan of the Babyganics All-Purpose Wipes. They’re unscented, residue and fragrance free plus they don’t contain any bleach, parabens or harsh chemicals.
I love these for wiping down all sorts of things. The can they come in keeps wipes moist so they’re great to have in the car or with you on a trip to disinfect surfaces in hotels, on high chairs and more!
Cleaning The Floors!
Dyson V-11 Absolute Cord-Free Stick Vacuum
Words I never thought I’d hear myself say: I am in love with this vacuum! The Dyson V-11 Absolute Cord-Free Stick Vacuum is like no other vacuum I’ve ever had before. When baby was first born, people would want to pop over to see the baby, so having the ability to quickly suck up any dirt and dust for “company” was super easy. Now we’re in the crawling phase and she’s eating solids, so being able to quickly suck up crumbs and quickly ensure there isn’t any extra dirt on the floor that could end up in her mouth gives me a ton of peace of mind.
Like I said before, babies are messy creatures so being able to take less than two minutes to clean up where they’ve been or where they’re going to be is extra convenient with this vacuum. It hangs conveniently to charge in my mud room so it’s close at hand when I need it. No more hassle of hauling out the central vac every time I need to take care of crumbs.
Now that baby eats in the car, having all the extra attachments for getting in between the seats and in the crevices of her carseat is super handy!
iRobot Braava Floor Mopping Robot
I’m not going to lie, I totally hate mopping and I’m not very good at doing it regularly. That’s why I bought the iRobot Braava Floor Mopping Robot. I actually got this before we had the baby because it was good at wiping up puppy prints off of our hardwood. Now it’s super convenient for a quick mop of the high chair area!
To make this even more convenient to use, I use it with disposable wet mop pads that fit perfectly on the bottom! This mop really makes my life so much easier and less complicated!
