I’d hesitated making such an investment into a skincare gadget – was it just a passing fad? Could I not achieve the same results with just my exfoliating scrub? I’ve struggled with acne (both major and minor) all through my tweens and teens and still have breakouts at the age of 31. I’d heard horror stories of how these “gadgets”
I’ve always used white hand towels in my bathroom, especially to dry my face after washing my makeup off at night. I use a great cleanser and a facecloth, but my skin must not have come completely clean as I started to notice a bit of dirt, etc. on the white towel I used to pat my face dry. I noticed this was even so in the morning after washing my face in the shower – you’d think by then my face would have been extra clean! I also felt like my moisturizers and other skincare products were not absorbing properly and quite honestly, I needed a change.
My husband loves gadgets of all kinds and is an information junkie, so I took my cues from him and started to research. I also enlisted the opinions of women I trust when it comes to skincare and beauty routines: my mom (20 years older than I am, but has similar skin concerns), my bestie (2 years older than me, similar skin concerns, and is someone always up to date on the latest and greatest in the beauty world) and my S-I-L-to-be (a year or so younger than me, but someone who does her research before making such a purchase). All three of these women purchased the Mia2 for similar reasons to why I was considering it.
Let me tell you why I love my Clarisonic Mia2 and how it changed my skincare routine:
- I can use any cleanser I want with it. Mine came with a sample from Clarisonic themselves and I also picked up a sample of the Clinique Foaming Sonic Facial Soap.
- It came with a travel case. My husband and I love to go on long weekend trips and having something that fits the tool, rather than tossing it in a Ziploc bag was appealing.
- The brush heads are interchangeable. As I age, potentially relocate, go through different life stages, my skin is inevitably going to change and require different care. This added to the longevity of the product. The company website (as well as Nordstrom) compares all of the brush heads online so you can determine what is best suited to your needs.
- When I ordered mine, it was available in pink with white polka-dots. Anyone who knows me knows that this is something that would lure me in!
- My husband and I had been doing renovation projects in our house and inevitably this dust ends up on your face and clogging your pores – my face washing routine needed a boost to help get rid of the extra pollution.
- I play on a women’s hockey team and the sweat and dirt and oil that get pushed into your forehead, chin and other parts of your face from your helmet can cause breakouts.
- My other products worked better. Any argon oil, moisturizer, serum, etc. that I used absorbed better and was more effective, plus, I required a more sparing amount of product.
My suggestions:
I like to use mine in the shower on days that I am washing my hair. This way, I’m able to wash right along my hairline without worry of getting soap stuck in my dry hair, and I’m able to rinse the cleanser more thoroughly. This also makes it easier to use it behind my ears (again, hockey helmet pressure points!).
