A baby’s first birthday is such an incredible milestone that needs to be celebrated! We had such a memorable theme and set of decorations for our first little one’s birthday that I wanted to do something special for Maya’s first birthday, too. She absolutely loves to look at the giraffes at the zoo and so we thought a Sophie La Giraffe themed party would be just perfect!
A little bit of giraffe whimsy, a touch of Parisian class, the perfect mix! We worked with Big Little Parties for the decorations for the party and they did such an amazing job!
Instead of themed sugar cookies, I opted for macarons. They were a nice touch on the French theme but also went over really well. Having something light to enjoy in the afternoon with cake and coffee was delicious and it was also a treat for the kids to pick their own colour/flavor off the tower. These gorgeous macarons are from Barre de Macaron!
I had to serve bubbles because it was a wonderful occasion to celebrate. This bottle of rosé bubbles from Veuve Cliquot was actually a gift we received when Maya was born, so this seemed like the perfect day to open it!
It wouldn’t be a party at our house without a cake from our pal Tim from Start from Scratch Co. His cakes are incredibly delicious and this giraffe was chocolate with peanut butter buttercream icing! Maya loved its cute little face and it’s tasty flavour!
We so often forget to take family photos and so this seemed like a good opportunity. At least Van and I are looking at the camera and don’t have macarons on our faces!
This decor set up was only what dreams are made of! It was so special and both of the girls absolutely loved it. The neon #1 was the perfect finishing touch, too. I threw in a few little Sophie accents like this Eiffel Tower toy, just to boost the theme a touch more!
