A Modern Farmhouse
In The Inner City
If you aren’t sure if inner-city living is for you, consider that this house sits on a 50’x124′ lot on one of the most coveted streets in Altadore – a neighbourhood with large trees, quiet streets and steps from shops and restaurants!
Something that I love about this home is the sheltered front patio area (right side). It’s a great spot to sit while your kids ride their bikes or to greet and socialize with neighbours. Let’s bring back the front porch and start creating communities again!
Now, if ideally hanging out in the front yard isn’t for you, there are plenty of other outdoor spaces to enjoy in this home. With a spacious back deck and grass area for play, this home is great for entertaining and family time.
I love this photo, and not just because of the stunning exterior elevations of this home. I love that it showcases the private balcony off the master suite and the private third floor roof-top patio!
The wood details on the ceiling of this balcony keep with the farmhouse style of the home.

Enter A Foyer of Details
The front entrance of a home really sets the stage for what’s inside. I love the double front doors and spacious covered entryway. The beams and reclaimed wood trim tie in beautifully to the farmhouse style of this house.
With room for seating, tall planters and plenty of seasonal decorations (how cute would lit up Christmas trees be framing this door?!), this entranceway is super welcoming!

I love a space that allows for guests to enter without tripping over each other and a room where I can put a large console table with a vase of seasonal blooms. I don’t know why, I just do.
Now this foyer not only offers all of this space and grandeur with its open to above sky high ceilings and stunning chandelier, it offers a ton of other architectural detail. I am in love with the details on the foyer wall, but I also love the knotty alder wood details on the ceiling (on both sides). These extra touches just add so much to this home.
Private Outdoor Living
All Year Long
Don’t worry – I wasn’t finished with outdoor spaces just yet! This home has one more if you can believe it!
One of my favorite spaces in this home is the Outdoor Living Room. It’s covered and sits between the living room and the stairwell with windows on either side allowing plenty of light to shine through.
I am loving the trend of outdoor living rooms – I hope it continues!
I love the wood panelled ceiling and cedar details on either side of the fire place. It makes the space feel warm and rustic, but still elegant with the chandelier!

The gas fireplace makes it cozy on those cooler days when you want to be outside, but still want to stay warm!
Stairways To Heaven
Stairways seem like a boring element to include in a blog post, but the stairwells in this home feature some key design details that can’t be missed!
The stairwell runs from the basement up to the third floor loft space!
Thanks to open risers, the light from the many windows is able to pass through the space giving it a more airy feel.
These staggered pendant lights are one of my favorite features! They hang at different heights along a shiplap wall (very farmhouse!) and the Edison bulbs add an extra touch of charm!
