Trickle Creek has been dominating the Modern Farmhouse space in Calgary and their newest show homes are no exception! In this post, I’m going to share with you what is potentially the kitchen of my dreams in Trickle Creek’s Magnolia model.
A mix of white and dark blue-grey shaker style cabinetry, marble countertops and chef’s appliances make this kitchen a real showstopper. If you pulled a design palette from my brain, this is exactly what it would look like!
This Modern Farmhouse kitchen leans more towards the modern than the farmhouse, but is still comfortable and full of polished charm! Let’s dive right in to the stunning details of this space. Want to save all the inspiration while you read? All images from this post are Pin-able!
Modern Farmhouse Kitchen Details
The vent hood acts as a true focal point for the space. I love how it is framed with accent shelving and wall sconces that add additional light and interest. I love the use of warm wood cutting boards, white pottery dishes and copper coffee press – they inspire a home-y farmhouse feel! #shelfie
A true chef’s kitchen with large refrigerator-freezer, double wall oven and 6-burner stove with griddle. These appliances could convince anyone to cook! I love the modern touch that they add here.
The wood trimmed vent hood and wood shelving help to warm up this space and break up the potentially sterile feel of a modern kitchen. I love the contrast and detail that they provide to the room.
I’m obsessed with these counter stools – the warm wood and chrome break up the dark island and tie in to the rest of the kitchen. This view also peeks into the adjoining mud room! (more details on that below)
The spacious island is complete with beverage centre, breakfast bar, ample cabinetry and additional shelving (I’d place my favorite bowls and cookbooks here!). This photo provides a view of the custom pantry cabinet on the right as well.
One of my favorite features of this island is the addition of a section of butcher-block countertop that plays so nicely against the polished marble. I love how this photo shows the view of the staircase and dining room, complete with modern farmhouse touches!
Another view of this extended island and the ample cabinetry in this kitchen! You can never have enough storage space and I don’t think it would be lacking in this kitchen at all.
Open Concept Living Spaces
I love an open concept space – the ability to cook and prepare meals while chatting and entertaining guests, helping kids with homework and more. Although the home is quite open, lighting helps to define each area within the space.
Below: A view of the kitchen from the living/dining spaces. I love the light fixtures chosen for this area – they add ample lighting but in just the right amounts!
The first view when you enter the space: Kitchen, Dining and Living (staircase to the right, not shown here).

Additional Hidden Spaces
There are hidden doors on either side of the kitchen, blended seamlessly into the mouldings and millwork. These integrated spaces are too good not to share!
On the left, the door leads through the butler’s pantry and conveniently located coffee station to a den or home office. A main floor home office is essential for me, and having one right off the kitchen (+ hidden from guests) like this is even better!
The stunning finishes used in the kitchen are carried through the pantry, including the polished marble countertops! I’d make this space my personal coffee bar – there are plugs available for a coffee machine and shelves to tidily store cups and saucers above!
A barn door closes the office from the kitchen/pantry and the moody paint colour is kept bright by the natural light that floods the space from the oversized windows. The modern pendant lighting adds extra light for evenings and cloudy days. I love how the barn door is painted to match the walls, blending it seamlessly into the room.
On the right, the door leads to a spacious mud room and door to the backyard. I love the open storage of this space – it allows space for coats to be hung up and storage for boots, backpacks and more! Bright white with a modern-shiplap touch make this space feel clean and just like home!
